Definition of subject: Pathology and Forensic Medicine
Pathology is the science that dealing causes and nature of disease effects.
Subject in veterinary education
Pathological morphology is clinical subject.
Purpose of subject
The theoretical part of this subject is divided into two parts. The first part covers general pathology in V semester and introduces the students in pathological processes and pathological conditions in the organism, for better understanding the pathogenesis of disease. While the second part of the subject refers to the special pathological morphology in semester VI. Special pathological morphology introduces the students with pathological anatomical changes in all organ systems. The exactly determination of pathological anatomical changes will facilitate for establishment final diagnosis of animals death.
Practical work is also divided into two parts. The first part (V semester) acquaint students with the basic of histopathology diagnostics, i.e. sampling and preparation material for diagnosis, preparing histopathology smears, and final diagnosis.
Part two (VI semester) acquaint students with the equipment and way of autopsy of the animals. During this practical work, each student will be able to do autopsy of different species of animals (ruminants, non ruminants, poultry or exotic animals) and easy recognize the pathological-anatomical changes and thus determine disease of the animal.
Perform teaching
Education is included in V and VI semester, with overall 165 hours, 75 hours theory and 90 hours practical work for students.
Methodology of the subject
Theory: Interactive (lectures in a large group, discussion and engagement of students)
Practical teaching: histopathology diagnosis during the V semester and autopsy in VI semester
Seminar work: using professional literature and Internet, preparing seminar work (essay / poster) presentation and discussion.
Forensic Medicine and Veterinary Ethics
Definition of subject: Forensic Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Ethics
Material in the subject Forensic Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Ethics are divided into judicial, general and special part. It processed forensic aspect of all areas in veterinary medicine and ethics.
Subject for veterinary education
Forensic Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Ethics are basic (compulsory) subjects.
Purpose of subject
The theory part of the subject Forensic Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Ethics makes synthesis from all subjects in veterinary curriculum. Particular attention is paid on the forensic aspect, hiddenness, significance and duration of the disease. Ethics is processed in terms of morality and ethical behavior of veterinary doctors in performing professional activity.
The practical work of the subject Forensic Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Ethics introduces students in the practical application of laws in performing everyday veterinary practice and also introduces them to the codes of Veterinary Medical Ethics.
Realizing the education
Education is included in IX semester, with overall 45 hours, 30 hours theory and 15 hours practical work for students.
