Infectious diseases
1. Definition of the subject: Infectious diseases

The subject Infectious diseases describes diseases caused by infectious agents and familiarizes students with the way of their occurrence, spreading, manifestation, diagnostics, control and eradication .

2. Subject in the veterinary medicine

Infectious diseases is sompulsory subject.

3. Aim of the subject

Main aim of the subject is familiarize students with the characteristics of the infctious diseases and methods for their diagnosis. Besides description of the diseases and ways for the diagnosism ways for eradication and and control of the diseases , as well as national and international legislative for regulating their control are also addressed during the course.

4. Execution of the lectures

Subject is taught in 7th and 8th semester, with total number of 135 hours, consisting of 75 theoretical lectures and 60 practical lectures.

5. Methodology of the subject

Theoretical lectures: interactive (lectures in large group with discussion and involvement of the students). Practical lectures: interactive (lectures in large group with discussion and involvement of the students, presentation of video material). Part of the practical lectures is executed at the Laboratory for microbiology, in smaller groups with demonstration activities and later with exercising of the student.
Seminar work: studying with using of specialized literature and internet, preparing of seminar thesis (assay/poster); presentation and discussion about seminar thesis.

Veterinary epidemiology
1. Definition of the subject: Veterinary epidemiology

Veterinary epidemiology is science which studies the necessary factors for appearance of disease in certain population and describes models of their occurrence.

2. Subject in the veterinary medicine

Veterinary epidemiology is sompulsory subject.

3. Aim of the subject

Aim of the cours e is students to comprehend the significance and importance of quantitative studying of certain disease in population with knowledge about their etiology, diagnostics and control on individual or herd level. Also, the aim of the course is students to obtain general knowledge about main principles and analytical techniques which are used in epidemiological studies.

4. Execution of the lectures

Subject is taught in 7th semester, with total number of 30 hours, consisting of 15 theoretical lectures and 15 practical lectures.

5. Methodology of the subject

Theoretical lectures: interactive (lectures in large group with discussion and involvement of the students).
Practical lectures: laboratory drills and other form of activity with smaller groups.
Seminar work: studying with using of specialized literature and internet, preparing of seminar thesis (assay/poster); presentation and discussion about seminar thesis.
