CERTIFICATE FOR PARTICIPATION 
A certificate of participation will be given to participants after completing all the requirements of the VetNEST Summer School.

The University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna (Vetmeduni), founded in 1765 by Empress Maria Theresa, is the only academic institution for veterinary education and research in Austria and the oldest in the German-speaking world. Vetmeduni offers a first-rate education with a high degree of practical relevance. Outstanding basic research in veterinary medicine and the natural sciences, along with applied and clinical research, are a precondition for scientific progress that benefits both animals and humans because healthy animals and safe animal-based foods are an essential prerequisite for general public health.

Interdisciplinary research

The Department of Interdisciplinary Life Sciences is composed of the Research Institute of Wildlife Ecology, the Konrad Lorenz Institute of Ethology, and the Messerli Research Institute.

Messerli Research Institute

At the Messerli Research Institute, scientifically based findings for the coexistence of humans and animals are developed and expanded.

The aim of the Department of Interdisciplinary Life Sciences is to promote excellence in scientific research, offer high-quality research-led teaching and provide top-quality academic services. The research of the associated institutes focuses on the behaviour and needs of animals and their interaction with humans and the environment

About

The Student residence hall „Dr. Ante Starčević“ is the third largest residence
hall in Zagreb. It has more than 1200 beds and it consists of 3 buildings, a coffee and pastry shop. All rooms in the residence are double-bed rooms, i.e. shared with a roommate (there is no option to be alone in a room). Rooms have a small refrigerator but no kitchen. There is a kitchenette on every fl oor. You need to bring your own dishes if you want to cook. The bathroom is shared with the next room.

Before arrival

Students that are granted accommodation will receive a medical form from the student hall of residence that needs to be confi rmed by their family physician in the home country. The form confi rms there are no medical objections to the student’s accommodation in a hall of residence.

Accommodation

Our student home Dückegasse leaves nothing else to wish for. Apartments with terraces, wellness area, roof terrace and regular room cleaning are just some of the many amenities it offers. The modern building is conveniently located opposite the University of Veterinary Medicine (VU Vienna) near Donaupark.

Move in and feel good! The particularly friendly atmosphere at Dückegasse will immediately make you and your pet feel at home. Whether you are studying, doing an internship, or working, here you have space and peace for yourself and can still enjoy community life.
