These subjects include and process the internal diseases in large and small ruminants, including swine, caused by infectious or invasive agents. <\/p>\n
Farm animal internal medicine is clinical and obligatory subject. <\/p>\n
The main goal of the subject is studying the diseases and other conditions caused by the influence of external and internal factors, mechanical, chemical or other nature, diseases caused due to metabolic disorder of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins, diseases caused by heavy metals and minerals poisoning. Subject does not include infectious or invasive disease, diseases of the udder and reproductive system, surgery, ophthalmology and onichology in ruminants and swine, which are subject of learning of other subjects. During practical training, students will acquire with basic experience and skills, necessary for successful performing of all necessary diagnostic and therapeutic techniques and procedures. <\/p>\n
Basic skills that students gain after completing this subject:
\n– Blood sampling
\n– Passing a stomach and nasal tube,
\n– Urinary catheterization
\n– Determinnation of ketosis using the Rothera test,
\n– Medication administration: i\/m, s\/c, i\/v and cutaneous,
\n– Oral drug administration <\/p>\n
Teaching is performed in VIII semester, with total of 185 hours, of which 95 hours theory and 90 hours practical training. <\/p>\n
Theory: Interactive (lectures in a large group with discussion and engagement of students). Practical teaching: practice and work in small groups.
\nSeminar: studying by using professional literature and Internet, prepairing of essay\/poster, presentation and discussion about seminar paper.
