Cabinet for visual diagnostics

Cabinet for visual diagnostic methods is strictly intended and specially designed to be able to respond to the legislation of protection against ionizing radiation and radiation safety, intended for safe function, harmless impact of the surrounding areas in the institution and the external environment. As a result of the foregoing, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, respectively cabinet for visual diagnostic, successfully accomplishes the working conditions regulated by law, as evidenced by Directorate for radiation safety of the R. Macedonia to issue the appropriate license for performing activities with ionizing radiation sources. By accomplish the legal obligations, conditions and regulations for safe operations, the cabinet for visual diagnostic is one of a kind in R. Macedonia, in other words is the only one which possesses all working conditions for domestic animals (large and small) and companion animals (pets).
The entire space of the cabinet is divided into recording room, lecture room and dark chamber.

Recording room is specially designed in order to fulfill the conditions prescribed by protection legislation against ionizing radiation and radiation safety. The cabinet is covered by lead which represents a Faradeev cage that provides maximum safety. X ray recorder is placed in the recording room, and patients have full access through two entrance, for large and small animals. Diagnostics by “X”-rays is performed in two ways, preliminary and special diagnostics. As an preliminary diagnostic X-ray illumination are used (rengenoscopy) and X-ray recording (roentgenographs). Special diagnostics is use for confirmation of preliminary recording using the “X”-rays. This includes specific diagnostic methods that use contrast, positive and negative, manufactured for that purpose and also suitable for organ/or organic systems. Cabinet, despite its diagnostic purpose (rengenoscopy, -graphy), entirely fulfills the conditions to use the X-ray in therapeutic purposes.

Dark Chamber is also intended to create final X-ray images. It serves for development of X ray films, etc. from “latent” to final X ray imaging. Development of X ray-film may be carried out, both manually and automatic in a specially design machines for that purpose.

Cabinet for visual diagnostic methods as part of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, has two goals, diagnostic and educational. Lecture room is equipped with two negatoskopes which are used for diagnostic of previously performed X ray imaging and student learning. It provides suitable conditions to performed prescribed teaching material for students of Visual diagnostic methods.
